Start: Within 2 to 6 weeks of contract award. Qatar visa and site clearance required
Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Electronics or equivalent experience
About the Role:
Lead the infrastructure design and hands on build of a disaster recovery solution for a large enterprise customer in Qatar. You will be the single technical authority for storage replication, virtualization recovery, backup and Microsoft services at the DR site, and will run the workstream independently on the customer site from design to handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce and baseline the end to end DR architecture, HLD and LLDs; define and prove RPO and RTO targets.
- Build and validate storage replication (NetApp ONTAP, SnapMirror) and virtualization recovery (VMware vSphere, vSphere Replication, SRM).
- Plan and lead the technical relocation of Dell PowerFlex infrastructure between sites, including rollback criteria.
- Recommission and validate backup (Dell NetWorker, Data Domain) and Microsoft services recovery (AD, DNS, ADFS, AD CS, Exchange DAG).
- Execute platform DR tests (planned and unplanned failover, failback, restores) and capture timestamped evidence.
- Provide technical inputs for runbooks and SOPs, deliver hands on knowledge transfer, and prepare the operational handover.
- Report weekly to the client project manager; manage risks and cross team dependencies with security and SAP colleagues.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Expert in NetApp ONTAP: clusters, peering, SnapMirror, snapshots, NFS, SMB, iSCSI and FC.
- Expert in VMware vSphere 7/8 with Site Recovery Manager, vSphere Replication and PowerCLI automation.
- Strong DR architecture: RPO and RTO modelling, failover orchestration, failback design and dependency mapping.
- Expert in Windows, Linux, Azure and AWS compute platform administration and support operations.
- Expert in AWS, Azure and Oracle Cloud migrations, administration and support operations.
- Advanced Dell NetWorker and Data Domain; advanced Active Directory, DNS, ADFS, AD CS and Exchange DAG.
- VLAN and VRF, routing, firewall flows and F5 patterns to specify and validate network and security needs.
- Data center fundamentals: racking, power, cabling certification, safe shutdown and start up sequencing.
- PowerShell and Python or Bash scripting; HLD, LLD and runbook writing.
- Comfortable working independently in a client environment and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Dell PowerFlex or HCI experience; client delivery experience.
- Ransomware resilient backup design; ITIL 4 awareness.
Certifications:
- Essential (at least two): VMware VCP-DCV or VCAP; NetApp NCDA or NCIE; Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid or Identity Administrator; Dell NetWorker or PowerProtect.
- Desirable: TOGAF 9; ITIL 4 Foundation.
